  • Don't forget to try TextAid! Save your Text to Speech and listen offline! (Tuesday, 12 September 2017)

TextAid  is accessed via the Tools menu in every Blackboard learning site.  Click  TextAid  in Tools to start.

Click New Text for an area to compose text, copy and paste text and click Listen to have it read back to you. You can also open a document from your personal 'online library' or your computer or device.

TextAid  let's you download your selected text to an mp3 file to download and listen offline - while doing the dishes, driving your car or riding on the bus or train - wherever you are and when you need it.

    TextAid also has

    • Spell check and word prediction
    • Web Look up which will automatically open Wikipedia for the selected word or text in Wikipedia or Google Websearch
    • A personal library where you can save documents and access them from any device
    • A translation tool that will translate text to or from seven different languages and read it back to you in that language
    • An annotation tool that let's you annotate your documents for later review.
    • Create a text file for scanned images - translates to text, that can then be read back to you.
    • Web Reader!   Drag the Web Reader link in the TextAid menu to your browser bookmarks and you can then use the ReadSpeaker widget on any website you visit.
    • TextAid and Readspeaker both have a full medical lexicon dictionary and will correctly pronounce medical and anatomical terms.

Both tools are 100% web-based and can be accessed on any device with an internet connection.

All you need to do is log into mySCU Blackboard first!
